Technical Parameters

In recent years, home heating solutions have evolved, and one of the standout innovations in interior design and functionality is the indoor bioethanol heater. As the name suggests, this fireplace runs on ethanol, a renewable energy source derived from plants, offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wood-burning or gas fireplaces. In this blog, we'll explore why the indoor bioethanol heater is becoming a popular choice for homeowners seeking both style and efficiency in their living spaces.

One of the key selling points of an indoor bioethanol heater is its environmental benefits. Unlike traditional fireplaces that rely on wood, which can lead to deforestation and air pollution, ethanol fireplaces use a renewable resource. The ethanol fuel is made from plant-based materials, such as corn or sugarcane, and burns with little to no carbon emissions, making it a green alternative for eco-conscious homeowners.

Everything You Need to Know

An ethanol fireplace is a contemporary, clean-burning solution that doesn't require a chimney or venting.

Are ethanol fireplaces safe indoors?

Yes, ethanol fireplaces are safe indoors when used properly in sufficiently sized and ventilated rooms that meet the manufacturer's minimum space requirements.

What is bioethanol?

Bioethanol is a form of alcohol derived from biomass. It is produced through the fermentation of sugars extracted from natural sources such as plants, algae, or surplus wine. The prefix "bio" is added to highlight its environmentally friendly production process. In addition, bioethanol is considered a carbon-neutral fuel since its combustion emits the same amount of CO2 that the plant absorbed during its growth phase. As an alternative to fossil fuels derived from petroleum, bioethanol is widely regarded as a more ecologically responsible choice.

How easy is it to install an ethanol fireplace?

Ethanol fireplaces are very easy to install compared to traditional options, with freestanding models requiring no installation and built-in models needing only basic framing without complex venting or utility connections.

Is a bioethanol fireplace expensive?

One litre of good quality bioethanol typically costs around €3,60. With an efficient burning system like our bioethanol fireplace , you can expect one litre of bioethanol to burn for an average of 2 hours. When comparing the overall cost of different types of fireplaces, it's important to factor in not only the fuel consumption but also installation costs. When comparing the cost of a bio-ethanol fireplace to that of a gas fireplace, it is often found that a biofire is the more economical option. It's worth noting that combined with the convenience and eco-friendliness it offers, biofires make an attractive choice for many homeowners.

If You are looking to build a fireplace TV wall

If you love the seamless, modern look of Corian and want to incorporate it into the fireplace wall, you must follow a "zero-clearance" or "shielded" approach.

The Correct (and Safe) Method:

Build a Non-Combustible Niche: Construct the actual fireplace niche from a proper, code-approved material.

Best Options: Cement board (like HardieBacker), fire-rated tile, natural stone (granite, slate, marble hearth), metal, or fire-rated glass.

This niche must extend to meet all clearance requirements specified by your ethanol burner's manual (e.g., 4" to sides, 24" above, etc.). But if you don't have enough space or clearance, please feel free to contact with us for more reliable distance.

Superior Material Alternatives for an Ethanol Fireplace Niche

For a similar modern, minimalist look but with proper safety, consider:

Natural Stone: Granite, soapstone, slate, or marble. Excellent heat resistance and thermal mass.

Porcelain Slabs: Large-format, through-body porcelain. Highly heat-resistant, consistent color, and very durable. Can mimic concrete, stone, or marble.

Fire-Rated Cement Board: Can be skim-coated with a smooth, fire-resistant micro-cement or Venetian plaster finish for a seamless look.

Metal: Powder-coated steel, brushed stainless steel, or Cor-Ten steel for an industrial look.

Fire-Rated Glass: Can be used for dramatic effects or accents.
